Render Clean, Repair, Seal

Using our many years of rendering experience, using various rendering techniques and products and applying them to all styles of private and commercial buildings, we offer a cleaning, repair and sealing service.

Render Cleaning

We clean K Rend as well as all other types of render including Parex, Weber, Eco Rend. If your render is looking tired and needs freshening up we can help with various treatment options as well as advice and problem-solving to help with keeping your render looking sharp.

Why does my render need cleaning?

There can be various reasons: A lot of the time applicators will apply render with no silicone in, or sealer applied afterwards as well as incorrect base coats; Or the render is simply not being applied to specification. In some cases it is the property’s location or some panels may be more exposed to the weather – the UK is not the kindest of climates!

Render Sealing

The K Rend or render applied to your property may need sealing to help protect it from the elements, as well as to help water run off more easily. Sealers penetrate the render and create a self-cleaning property that repels water and helps to weatherproof the building.

If you do need to have your render cleaned, we would also advise the application of a sealer afterwards. In severe cases where a clean doesn’t remove all of the staining, we can also apply a colour enhancer which will even the colour out leaving the panel looking refreshed and new.

Render Repair

Unfortunately, no render applied to any building is guaranteed not to crack, although manufacturers do all they can to help with this by incorporating polymer base coats and fibreglass reinforcing mesh etc.

Not all cracks in render are cause for panic, especially with modern renders as there are various flexible infills as well as colour enhance to paint over the panel to even the panel out once the repair has been carried out.

Please get in touch and we will advise the best options for your property.

Water Works

When ascertaining why your render may have water stains or water marks various things need to be taken into account:
    • Coping stones should be an adequate size and have a drip allowing the water to run away from the render. We recommend a minimum of 50mm overhang protruding the render.
    • Roofline – Does the roofline have adequate overhang past the render with soffits, gutters, etc positioned correctly so that water is diverted away from the top of the render and not down it.
    • Lead work – Does the lead have adequate depth as well as diverting water in the right direction?
    • Windows and window cills – should be fitted correctly with an adequate overhang of around 50mm past the render and fitted squarely with drips on the cills.
    • Silicone sealer – Windows doors and soffits should always be sealed with quality silicone as a lot of modern building techniques use PVC. This is prone to expansion and contraction therefore where the render meets may be prone to water ingress.
    • Ground levels – We always recommend a minimum of 100mm of clearance from the render stopping to the ground or finished surface to help with water splashing at the render. A lot of new designs, especially in garden areas, require the render to be applied all the way down. We recommend applying sealer to those areas as well as keeping the grounds clean from algae as this can spread onto the render.

The information above describes some of the typical problems and solutions we come across that we can help solve. If you need any more information please get in touch we will be happy to advise on the best solution for your property.
